Usyk became the best boxer of the year according to the WBC
Famous Ukrainian athlete Oleksandr Usyk has been named WBC Boxer of the Year. Over the past year, the heavyweight has demonstrated his professionalism to the whole world.
This was reported on the World Boxing Council (WBC ) Instagram page on Monday, January 6.
Oleksandr Usyk is the best boxer of the year
According to the WBC, in May 2024, Oleksandr Usyk became the undisputed champion in the super-heavyweight and heavyweight divisions after defeating Tyson Fury in an epic fight. And last week, Usyk successfully defended his WBC belt.
"Usyk has repeatedly demonstrated his exceptional skills outside of Ukraine, demonstrating his global influence on the sport. These accomplishments make Usyk one of the greatest boxers of his generation," the statement reads.
As a reminder, boxer Oleksandr Usyk won a rematch with Tyson Fury. As a result, he became the best boxer of his era.
After his rematch with Tyson Fury, unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk said he would continue his career. He has reached all the heights in boxing and has nothing left to prove.
