Ukrainian biathletes win gold at the 2025 Universiade

Ukrainian biathletes are proving to be successful at the Universiade in Turin. The team has won its second gold medal.

The second highest award went to Oleksandra Merkushyna and Serhii Suprun in the single mixed relay, according to the Suspilne Sport portal.

Gold medal for Merkushyna and Suprun

Merkushyna ran the first stage and stayed in the lead throughout the race. In addition, the 20-year-old biathlete used two extra rounds at both shooting lines.

Suprun made one mistake across two stages but managed to lift the team from third to second place.

Merkushyna, in her next leg, took the lead for the first time and extended the advantage to 42 seconds. Then Suprun, in his final leg, maintained the lead and finished first.

Universiade 2025. Single mixed relay:

  2. Czech Republic (1+4) +16.7
  3. Poland (1+9) +23.2

On the first day of competition, Bohdan Borkovskyi won the short individual race.

Daryna Chalyk also won a bronze medal in the short individual race.

It should be noted that in the overall standings of the 2025 Universiade, the Ukrainian national team ranks sixth.

The Ukrainian national team believes that Mykhailo Mudryk was framed in the doping case.
